Okay, so I switched to mac. After years of 'emulating' macs, and having an old mac in the corner, I went and made the plunge and got a Macbook as my main computer (white, 2.4ghz, 3gigs ram, 160gig hd, Intel x3100 graphics). Now, being the emulating nut that I am, I had to have either VMwares Fusion or Parallels to run Window on, simutaneously, while working on the Mac. I went with Fusion, for reasons I forget now (i'm sure there was one thing that worked better at the time). For a long time now, it's been blissful. I imported my previous PC and Linux deskops as Virtual machines and can fire them up whenever I need them (awesome!).I recently tried to update VMware to version 2, apparently for greater functionality and compatabilty. LOL. The one game that worked for me on my modest macbook, does not under Fusion 2. This is progress? Looking through the forums a little seems to indicate to me that beta 3 and 4 will move even further away from my humble macbook :(So, before I flip out and flame VMware too harshly, maybe this is the cost of getting a computer that is 'good enough' at the moment of purchase. Maybe the low price tag of the virutalization software only leads one to believe it might be for everyone, and not just those with a Mac Pro with 16 cores? Fortunately, I was able to re-install version 1.1.3 and go back to things the way they were. I'm not sure what I'm missing out on now, but I can play the one game that worked again. Before I delve deep into the forums looking for the answer to my next question "will Parallels be any better on this computer?", I may just start setting some money aside for a new computer...
