What's next...

Well, I've been fairly busy of late, and I'm wondering what I can really use all this for...

Since I design web sites, it is ideal to test these new sites on multiple platforms, and since I don't yet want to spend the money and upgrade my current laptop (to make virtualization less painful), I am going to turn this G4 tower my "test bed".

I've installed Os 9.2, Os X .3, and now with the OrangePC 620, Windows 95!!!

So the next step is to try and get my Apple Compatibility Card running alongside the OrnagePC-620, for multiple windows environment at once!!

SUCCESS!! OrangePC 620 boot!!!

Updating the software to version 3.4.2 and success! Was able to boot, post, and even go into the BIOS!!! Now to install an OS!
more to follow...

Update 3: more info...

OK, after hitting google for more info, read through the archived Orange Micro site (http://web.archive.org/web/20010816052527/www.orangemicro.com/updates.ht...) and found this important info:
"...Known Conflicts

* Macintosh Virtual Memory must be OFF
* Disk Cache in the Macintosh Memory Control Panel must be set to 128k..."

also

"...What's new in OrangePC version 3.4.2 software?

* Fixes a hangup with certain processors at startup after the BIOS post. This problem was introduced in OrangePC version 3.3.1..."

Update 2: still nothing...

OK, following both the instructions here http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-n-dos@mail.maclaunch.com/msg01185.html
and here http://www.network54.com/Forum/30406/message/1180072114/System+Specs I'm ready to give it another shot.

1) Check dip switches for cpu AMD K6-3 400mhz (check here for settings http://www.mandrake.demon.co.uk/Apple/omweb/orangepcfaqs.html#Anchor-629...) check.

2) remove any other PCI cards and move OrangePC 620 to new slot. check.

3) Delete preferences file for orangepc (found in macHardDrive/System Folder/Preferences). check.
