Drush on Osx Lion: Surprise addition to the TODO list

Setting up my new(to me) Mac pro (2009), and as a dedicated drupal advocate/enthusiast/up-and-coming-guru, I've installed Drush, "Drush is a command line shell and scripting interface for Drupal, a veritable Swiss Army knife designed to make life easier for those of us who spend some of our working hours hacking away at the command prompt."

Problem is, after going through the README text file and installing it, trying to run it gave me the error "Could not start up."

Googling this error turned up little that was of help to me, though I did find some references to certain versions of Drush_make not working on Mac OsX Lion... eventually rolled back to 6.x-3.3, which was working on my previous computer,  and I'm all good ;)

Why Drush?  I had been using the method described here to update contrib modules in drupal with Drush without breaking SVN, which was a life saver, specifically the "Safe, but Tedious Method", lol.

More recently, I sat in on a great sesion at Drupal (moon) Camp Toronto 2011 titled "Optimize Site Deployments with Drush".  A great intro and argument for Drush Make, which I'm sure is going to change my world, Thanks!!
